Dangaard Telecom, headquartered in Padborg, in southern Jutland and Europe's largest distributor of mobile phones, aims to become the world's largest distributor in the next 12 months by cultivating new markets and developing new business areas. Dangaard Telecom says that record revenues and profits in the latest fiscal year have fuelled its growth plans.

Steen Folmer Pedersen, group director of Dangaard Telecom says: "In the last 12 months we have earned more money than ever before. It has enormous importance to us and to southern Jutland, and the fine earnings should naturally be invested in new strong growth in all our areas".

In the financial year 2004-2005, Dangaard Telecom generated revenues close to DKK 12 bn (USD 1.9 bn), an increase of almost DKK 2 bn (USD 320 m) equivalent to a 21% rise on the year before. Profit before tax amounted to DKK 210 m (USD 33.6 m), a 267% rise on the previous year.

Internet telephony is one of Dangaard Telecom's new business areas. The company is collaborating with Skype, and Steen Folmer Pedersen says that Dangaard will handle the spread of internet telephony in Europe for Skype: "We will have a range of products which will include everything consumers need to use this form of telephony", he says. The news was reported by financial daily newspaper Børsen.
