Danish based telecompany Sonofon has entered a collaboration with the European hotspot operator The Cloud to establish 500 WLAN zones in Denmark. The Cloud has 6,500 hotspot zones in Germany, UK and Sweden which will also be available to Sonofon customers. Telenor, the owner of Sonofon, has set up 400 of its own hotspots in Norway.

Sonofon expects its customers to have access to the first zones from Q1 2007. Jesper Hansen, director of strategic projects and new markets says: "Together with the mobile network, the opportunity for WLAN connection via the new hotspots will give our customers an even more attractive mobile broadband solution. Both corporate and private customers will gain access to the very fast wireless data connections when they are staying in hotels or are in airports, conference venues or train stations."

Users can change between the mobile network and wireless zones depending on where they are and what their needs are. "Mobile broadband is about linking technologies, so our customers are always provided with the best possible data connection, in an easy and efficient way. We will offer package solutions which combine the mobile network and wireless hotspots, and customers can also choose just to buy access to the new hotspots for a shorter period and via sms." The news was reported by Comon.
