France's CMA-CGM, the world's third largest shipping company, has placed a large order with IBM Denmark which specialises in IT solutions for transport and logistics. The contract is seen as a result of IBM Denmark taking over the IT tasks of shipping company Maersk Line after acquiring Maersk Data from A.P. Moller Maersk at the end of 2004.

Michael Lund Hansen, director of IBM Transport and Logistics says: "Now both No.1 and No.3 in the world shipping rankings have chosen to place parts of their IT tasks with IBM. It strengthens our leading competence in Denmark, and shows the role of logistics and transport in the country."

IBM Denmark is a leading supplier of IT products, solutions and services, and employs about 1,200 people. The company's primary business areas are in network solutions, system integration, services and consultancy. The news was reported by Comon.
