International IT consultancy firm Sogeti, owned by Cap Gemini, is now expanding into Denmark with a plan to acquire smaller players

International IT consultancy firm Sogeti, headquartered in France and owned by Cap Gemini, is now expanding into Denmark. Stefan Ek, director of Sogeti's Swedish operation who will also take on responsibility for the Danish division, says that the company will focus on system development and software testing, and expects to have 100 people employed in Copenhagen by 2010.

Sogeti aims to quickly establish critical mass in the market through acquisition of smaller consultancy firms, employing 10 - 50 people, which have profiles that suit Sogeti's growth ambitions. The company will then be in a position to take on major players in the Danish IT market such as CSC and IBM.

Stefan Ek comments: "We are already strong on the Swedish side of the Øresund region and see great opportunities to win market share in Denmark. Our aim is to be among the market leaders."

The company employs 700 people in Sweden, while worldwide the workforce totals 15,000. Sogeti's first customer in Denmark is Dansk Trælast, which supplies building materials. The news was reported in ComputerWorld.
