A Korean biotech delegation headed by pharmaceutical group Samyang Corporation is currently visiting Denmark to hold meetings with potential biotech company partners and participate in Biotech Forum, Scandinavia's largest biotech industry conference, in Copenhagen. The delegation comprises representatives from pharmaceutical and biotech companies, patent experts and members of the Korean life science industry organisation.

Samyang Corporation, which generates revenues of DKK 6 bn (USD 1 bn) annually, is looking for a collaboration partner to carry out the final clinical tests of the group's new product Genexol, said to be a revolutionary chemotherapy drug with the potential to generate massive sales solely in the treatment of pancreatic cancer. Min Young Lee, vice president of Samyang Corporation says:

"The visit is a good opportunity to meet potential partners. Medicon Valley is an interesting cluster of healthcare companies with many small and medium size players. We are trying to find a partner which can be involved in implementing the final clinical tests of Genexol or make use of the other technologies we have developed."

Mr. Lee will hold 14 partnering meetings with Danish companies to gain an overview of the opportunities. "We are at a very early stage. But if we succeed in finding a company to collaborate closely with, then location of a European subsidiary could be in Denmark," says Min Young Lee. The news was reported by national daily newspaper Berlingske Tidende.
