Ventelo, Norway's largest privately owned telecompany has acquired a 90% stake of Webpartner, a small Danish telecom and internet supplier, for about DKK 150-180 m (USD 24-28.8 m). Ventelo is owned by a number of capital funds and private equity funds including Pinnacle, Paradox Invest, Granhara Master Funds, Nampor Investment, Quartz Asset Management and Vesuvio Asset Management.

In June last year, Webpartner was judged Denmark's most capable telecom and IT firm among 200 companies by financial daily newspaper Børsen. Webpartner has achieved 40% growth in recent years, and in 2005 generated revenues of DKK 60 m (USD 9.6 m) and a surplus of DKK 15 m (USD 2.4 m).

Per Morten Torvildsen, chairman of Ventelo comments: "We have a strategy to gain a dominant market share of business customers throughout Scandinavia. The three biggest telecompanies in Denmark [TDC, Telia and Sonofon –Ed] need the type of service provider that we are". The acquisition of Webpartner will be used as a springboard for further expansion on the Danish market. Ventelo plans to increase its network investments in Denmark as well as employing more staff. The news was reported by daily financial newspaper Børsen and Computerworld.
