TCM Denmark has gained a contract with China's Zhen-Ao Group, which means that TCM Denmark will handle EU approval and marketing of a dietary supplement developed by Zhen-Ao Group

The Funen based consortium TCM Denmark has gained a contract with China's Zhen-Ao Group, a manufacturer of plant-derived medicines, which means that TCM Denmark will handle EU approval and marketing of a dietary supplement developed by Zhen-Ao Group. TCM Denmark has established a contracting company which will handle the approval and registration process.

Bjørn Petersen director of Funen Business Centre, one of the partners in TCM Denmark, comments: "We have contact with food companies which have shown interest in using the dietary supplement for their existing products." Initially the focus is on dietary supplements, but the consortium is also looking at other areas where plant-derived medicines can be useful, including the prevention of infection in livestock.

In September, a TCM Denmark delegation will visit China with the aim of entering 2 or 3 more contracts with companies specialising in plant-derived medicines.

TCM Denmark comprises a number of partners including the Danish Institute of Agricultural Sciences, the University of Southern Denmark, International Science Parks of Southern Denmark and Funen County Council. One of the objectives of the consortium is to help align Chinese traditional medicine with European legislative requirements to enable Chinese producers of traditional medicines to sell their products in Europe.

The news was reported by financial daily newspaper Børsen.
