Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas Wind Systems has received an order for 60 V80-2.0 MW wind turbines for an offshore wind power plant in the Netherlands, which will be located in the North Sea, 12 nautical miles off the Dutch coast. The order which was placed by Windpark Q7 Holding B.V., comprises supply and installation of the wind turbines as well as a 5-year warranty and maintenance contract.
Anders Søe-Jensen, president of Vestas Offshore comments: "With an accumulated offshore market share of almost 70 per cent, the Q7 project is a further strengthening of Vestas' leading position in this market segment. Growth rates are forecast at least in line with those on the onshore market." Delivery and installation is scheduled for H2 2007, and the wind power plant to be completed during Q1 2008. The news was reported by financial daily newspaper Børsen and on Vestas' website.
Vestas Wind Systems employs 10,600 people and has production facilities in Denmark, Germany, India, Italy, UK, Spain, Sweden, Norway and Australia. In 2005, Vestas Wind Systems generated revenues of DKK 26.7 bn (USD 4.3 bn), and sold wind turbines with a total power of 3,185 MW worldwide.
