USA's Horizon Wind Energy LLC, one of the world's largest developers of wind turbine projects has placed an additional order with Denmark's Vestas Wind Systems, the world's largest wind turbine manufacturer. The order comprises 200 MW of V80-1.8 MW and V82.1.65 MW wind turbines for delivery in 2007.
Before Christmas, Vestas gained its biggest ever order in the US from Horizon to supply 600 MW of V82-1.65 and V80-1.8 MW wind turbines for delivery over the next three years, with an option for an additional 200 MW. It is this option Horizon now is utilizing. The US company is located in Houston, Texas and is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Goldman Sachs Group.
Jens Søby, president of Vestas Americas says: "The order reaffirms Horizon's confidence in Vestas and Vestas' ability to meet the challenges of a strong world-wide demand for wind turbines".
Vestas Wind Systems has installed more than 26,000 wind turbines in more than 50 countries worldwide. The company employs 9,600 people and has production facilities in Denmark, Germany, India, Italy, UK, Spain, Sweden, Norway and Australia.
