Zepto Computers, a Danish supplier of laptop computers on a built-to-order concept, is making rapid progress on the European market since the launch of its laptops in January. Sales are especially doing well in Germany, UK, Finland and France. Lasse Frost, managing director of Zepto Computers says:
"It is going amazingly well in those four countries, and that is without doing any marketing. It is because local computer magazines have carried out a number of tests where we scored top marks".
In 2005, Zepto generated revenues of DKK 88 m (USD 15 m), with profits after tax of DKK 2.1 m (USD 357,000). A year ago, Lasse Frost said to financial daily newspaper Børsen that he forecast revenues at DKK 1 bn (USD 170 m) by 2007. "It is realistic, although we probably will have to wait a bit longer, since the European market had the brakes on for a bit longer than we expected. But I have no doubt that we will reach that figure," says Frost.
Zepto Computers manufactures and sells laptop PCs. Zepto is headquartered in Hedehusene close to Copenhagen, and is represented in 13 countries in Europe. The firm works closely with some of the world’s largest notebook manufacturers in Taiwan, which deliver laptops without hard drives, RAM, processors and external storage. Zepto Computers then configures notebooks based on customer requirements. The news was reported by ComOn.
