Wrist Group in Aalborg, northern Jutland, a concern whose services include world-wide bunker supply, aims to double its size over the next five years via international acquisitions and purchasing of new ships. In 2006, Wrist Group generated revenues of DKK 25 bn (USD 4.75 bn) on bunker oil and ship supply, with a pre-tax result of DKK 198 m (USD 37.6 m). The company was sold to the capital fund Altor in the spring.
 
Jim Pedersen, managing director of Wrist Group says: "With Altor as our owner, we can increase our speed and look at acquisitions which previously were not possible for us to realise. Wrist has the platform to accelerate growth".
 
Wrist Group plans to employ more people in the near future. "Wrist group has three business units, all of which will be enlarged. We are already an international company, but our position as a global company needs to be strengthened," says Pedersen. The Group especially sees growth opportunities in Asia, and North and South America.
 
Wrist Group A/S was founded in Aalborg in 1966 and is the parent company of a group of companies serving the shipping and offshore industry worldwide. The group employs approx. 1,000 people and has 30 subsidiaries around the world. Wrist Group forecasts revenues of DKK 27 m (USD 5.1 m) in 2007. The news was reported by financial daily newspaper Børsen.
