Last week Danish designers showcased their fashion at the annual Collection Premiere Moscow fair in Russia, an initiative which will help further boost sales in this rapidly growing market. The promotion of Danish fashion was organised by the Federation of Danish Textile and Clothing in collaboration with the Trade Council of Denmark.

Søren Gregers Jensen, trade advisor at the Federation of Danish Textile and Clothing forecasts that exports of Danish clothes to Russia will increase from DKK 150 m (USD 27 m) in 2006 to more than DKK 1 bn (USD 180 m) in just a few years.

"Danish exports of fashion to Russia have more than doubled since 2002, and almost all of the Danish companies which have established themselves on the market, are seeing growth. We have got a good hold of the middle segment because Danish companies are extremely good at creating fashion clothes which give value for money. That market is enormous," says Søren Jensen.

Danish fashion companies represented at the fair included Claire, Blend, Kaffe, Pardon, PAS, Peppercorn and Signature. The news was reported by financial daily newspaper Børsen.
