Danish software company AutIQ A/S, which develops and markets software for automating data collection, processing and interpretation, has announced in a press release that it has entered an agreement with US sleep disorder diagnosis company Areté Sleep Health. AutIQ will develop a "virtual sleep disorder expert" to assist the Phoenix-based company's doctors and sleep experts in interpreting sleep laboratory test data.
According to Computerworld, the 5 year agreement guarantees AutIQ significant income from licensing its software solution.
Diagnosing the many different known sleep disorders involves the collection, processing and interpretation of large amounts of complex data generated by sleep laboratory tests - a task which demands a high level of knowledge and takes up a considerable amount of a doctor's time. AutIQ's virtual expert technology can automate a number of processes that otherwise requires considerable human effort, thereby giving doctors proportionally more time to concentrate their expertise where it is most needed.
As a measure of the AutIQ software's potential to increase productivity for Areté Sleep Health, it is estimated that with the help of the virtual expert software system, 5 sleep disorder diagnosis reports can be completed at the same level of quality and in the same period of time that it currently takes to complete 1 diagnosis report.
For AutIQ, gaining access to the US market is obviously a major boost. AutIQ's CEO Dennis Thomsen comments: "For us this is a giant step in the right direction. We have always known that the technology and concept of virtual experts has had a great deal of potential. With this agreement, this is the first time we have taken the technology from the world of IT datacenter performance and into improving medical diagnostics."
