Denmark close to achieving 100% broadband internet coverage

A new report shows that Denmark has the highest coverage of broadband, not only among the Nordic countries but also in the OECD area as a whole
A report published yesterday by the National IT and Tele Agency shows that Denmark has the highest coverage of broadband, not only among the Nordic countries involved in the survey, but also in the OECD area as a whole, which has 30 member countries.

The report, based on work from the national tele agencies of Denmark, Norway, Sweden and Finland, shows that at least 98% of Danes have the opportunity to access broadband internet. And Danes are clearly up taking the opportunity – the report also revealed that Denmark has the highest growth in the number of broadband connections.

Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Helge Sander was pleased to see confirmation that Denmark has achieved 98% coverage, but stressed that the government sees Digital Denmark as a 100% concept: "We are still missing the last 2%, but we are working on it. The government's message is clear – Every single Dane shall have access to broadband."

The news was reported by national newspaper Berlingske Tidende.
