Danish based wind turbine tower manufacturer Hendricks Industries in Herning, Jutland, the former Roug A/S, plans to build a new factory in Keokuk, Iowa, USA. As previously reported on this website, USA's Hendricks Holding Co. Inc, an international private equity company located in Beloit, Wisconsin, acquired Roug A/S in January this year. Since then, Hendricks Industries has acquired six companies in Europe and North America.
Jeff Lauritzen, managing director of Hendricks Industries says the factory in the US will cost USD 90 m, employ 400 people and be located along the Mississippi river. "The factory will be constructed to cover the American demand for 15,000 new wind turbines annually."
Ken Hendricks, owner of the Hendricks Holding Group, commented: "Our new location in Iowa, the heart of America's windbelt, puts our company in the perfect position to serve a market that is projected to triple production by the year 2020."
Hendricks Industries is currently employing 250 people at its Herning facility, an increase of approx. 100 people since January, and plans to take on a further 100. When the factory in Iowa is up and running, the total number of staff is expected to reach 1,200. The news was reported by national daily newspaper Jyllands-Posten, and on the website of the Office of the Governor, State of Iowa.
