Danish based shipping company Nordic Tankers is seeking an IPO on Copenhagen Stock Exchange, offering approx. 2 million shares, corresponding to 30% of its total shares, from 6-11 June. The market value of Nordic Tankers is expected to be between DKK 590 (USD 106.2 m) and 675 m (USD 121.5 m) when the listing has been implemented.

Nordic Tankers has just launched a roadshow at potential investors and initiated information meetings with its current 6,000 owners. Flemming K. Sørensen, managing director of Nordic Tankers says: "We hope that many people will find it exciting to be more direct ship owners through our company than through the other stock exchange listed shipping companies. We have only two people employed in our administration, the rest is outsourced."

Nordic Tankers is a tonnage provider, which means that it owns ships, but the commercial operation is outsourced. The average age of the fleet is eight years, but new ships on order will bring it down to 2-3 years by 2009. Globally, the average merchant fleet age is 13 years. Nordic Tankers is in pool collaboration with ships from Torm, A.P.Moller-Maersk and Eitzen. The news was reported by national daily newspaper Jyllands-Posten.
