Danish-based wind turbine blade manufacturer LM Glasfiber has published its 2006 accounts, which predictably show rosy performance in an energy sector that is now widely seen as an integral part of the world's response to climate change. LM Glasfiber increased sales by 43% to DKK 3.5 bn (USD 630 m), while improving EBIT to DKK 401 m (USD 72 m) from last year's DKK 160 m (USD 29 m). In terms of power supplied, sales reached a record 4.1 GW, up 1.1 GW on 2005.

For 2007, LM Glasfiber forecasts sales growth of at least 25%, and operating profit is expected to represent at least 10% of revenue.

Roland Sundén, CEO of LM Glasfiber, said: “We are at a unique moment in time when we are starting to realise the urgency of reducing our dependence on coal, oil and gas. And there is no doubt that wind power will become an increasingly important component of the overall energy mix in many countries. This situation constitutes a significant value creation opportunity for LM Glasfiber."

LM Glasfiber is the world’s leading supplier of blades for wind turbines, and the only supplier that operates on a global basis. The company has manufactured more than 86,000 blades since 1978. LM Glasfiber is headquartered in Lunderskov, Jutland, and employs more than 4,000 people.
