Siemens Wind Power to produce its turbines using 100% green energy

The wind turbine manufacturer will henceforth obtain all the electricity used for its manufacturing activities in Denmark from wind power
Wind turbine manufacturer Siemens Wind Power A/S will henceforth obtain all the electricity used for its manufacturing activities in Denmark from wind power. That is the result of an agreement the company has entered with Vindenergi Danmark, which supplies 500 MW of green energy to the Danish national grid.

Manufacturing wind turbines using electricity supplied from existing wind turbines will improve the cradle-to-grave environmental profile of Siemens Wind Powers products, as well as reducing the company's overall CO2 emissions.

The agreement extends existing collaboration between the two companies, and provides further evidence of the trend for companies to obtain more of their power from renewable sources. And as Niels Dupont, director at Vindenergi Danmark, observes: "Siemens get the extra benefit of heightening their green profile with both customers and suppliers."
