2007.06.07
A new survey by IAB Europe ranks Denmark 2nd out of 13 European countries in terms of internet advertising revenue generated per internet user in 2006
A new survey by IAB Europe (Interactive Advertising Bureau), the first of its kind, ranks Denmark 2nd out of 13 European countries in terms of internet advertising revenue generated per internet user in 2006, ahead of Germany and France. The UK tops the list with advertising revenues equivalent to DKK 618 (USD 111) per internet user, while Denmark accounts for DKK 427 (USD 77).

Christian Peytz, chairman of the Association of Danish Internet Media, says: "The figures show that Denmark is among the leaders regarding exploitation of the internet for marketing – both with action-oriented campaigns and branding. We are one to two years ahead of the large central European countries, which is very important to the Danish internet sector."

Internet advertising revenue in 2006 for the 13 European countries surveyed totalled DKK 60 bn (USD 10.8 bn), of which Denmark accounts for 1.8 bn (USD 324 m) or 3%. Revenue includes banner advertisements, search word advertising, classified ads, telephone directory services and advertising-based e-mails. The news was reported by financial daily newspaper Børsen and on the Association of Danish Internet Media website.
