The Swedish private equity company is acquiring 100% of the Danish company Contex Holding A/S, a world leader in advanced 2D and 3D image solutions
Swedish private equity company Ratos is acquiring 100% of the Danish company Contex Holding A/S, a world leader in the development, manufacture and marketing of advanced 2D and 3D image solutions. The sellers are the private equity group EQT (60%) and a number of other investors. Ratos' investment is estimated at approximately SEK 600 m (USD 90 m).

EQT took control of Contex in 1999, just a month after Contex became bourse-listed. During EQT's period of ownership Contex turnover has advanced from DKK 135 m (USD 25 m) to DKK 657 m (USD 122 m). In the same period the number of employees has increased to 435.

Contex Holding A/S comprises Contex A/S, which manufactures large-format scanners and related software, Z Corporation, which manufactures products for printing out 3D models, and Vidar Systems Corporation, which manufactures film digitisers for medical diagnostics. Manufacturing is conducted in Denmark and the USA.

Ratos' CEO Arne Karlsson comments: "Contex has strong market positions today in all of its product areas. We believe the company has potential for continued strong growth. We also see opportunities for complementary acquisitions, especially in the area of 3D imaging."
