Nordic venture fund Via Venture Partners has invested DKK 15 m (USD 2.7 m) in the Danish firm GoIP International, which makes software systems for IP telephony. The cash will be used to drive GoIP's international expansion.

GoIP International delivers private label VoIP systems and professional solutions for prepaid and postpaid Voice over IP for the consumer and business market. The newly raised cash will be used to strengthen GoIP's international sales in a number of growth markets, particularly in eastern Europe and South America, as well as to further develop the firm's VoIP software.

The new investment comes shortly after Deutsche Telekom's international wholesale unit International Carrier Sales & Solutions chose GoIP International’s “VoIP in a Box” solution for several hundred of its international wholesale customers. The deal gives GoIP International a one-off payment per customer together with a fixed monthly user fee.

GoIP International says that several sizeable European agreements are in the offing, and that as a result nearly two million European telecustomers could be using the firm's VoIP solutions in the next couple of years. The news was reported by Erhvervsbladet.
