Danish software house Saxotech has sealed a lucrative deal with Canada's largest media company Canwest
Danish software house Saxotech has sealed a lucrative deal with Canada's largest media company Canwest, which operates a number of news servers, radio stations and newspapers including the National Post, Calgary Herald and Ottawa Citizen. Canwest also has interests in TV production, cable TV and websites in other countries. Computerworld reports the news.

The Saxotech software solution Canwest has bought makes it possible to plan and apportion content across the companies 13 daily domestic newspapers. The order came after a successful pilot project in which three independent news titles and Canwest news servers collaborated in a shared environment to produce three newspaper products for print and digital distribution.

The Canwest order, which took three years to land, has significantly improved the business outlook for Saxotech, which has experienced a difficult patch in recent times. Saxotech's MD Anders Christiansen comments to Computerworld: "It has been a fantastic comeback-year after a testing 2006. After significant losses we once again have black numbers on the bottom line, thanks to a revenue hike of more than 50%".
