Viking, a leading supplier of maritime safety solutions, has landed a DKK 52m order from the German Navy for evacuation equipment
The Esbjerg-based company Viking, a leading supplier of maritime safety solutions, has landed an DKK 52m (USD 9m) order from the German Navy and further orders could be on the way, reports Business.dk

The order is to supply 12 warships and supply ships with 48 of Viking's shock- and vibration-proof Evacuation MiniChute Systems, which according to Viking's website are designed to ensure the integrity of life-saving equipment "even under trying circumstances".

Viking has been working on the  task for six years; the long timescale is due to the fact that the test work conducted with the German Navy was "very thorough and detailed", according to Viking's international sales director Bent Kromann.

The Viking evacuation system certainly appears to represent a major advance on the equipment that the German Navy currently has. Kromann comments to Business.dk that "the evacuation time has been brought down from one hour to 10 minutes."
