Aalborg-based Logimatic, an engineering and IT company focusing on sales, implementation and support of in-house developed software solutions, has gained a major contract with one of the world's largest shipyards, Rongsheng Heavy Industries (RSHI) in China, writes financial daily newspaper Børsen. The contract comprises implementation of MARS, an ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning) solution that Logimatic has developed specifically for shipyards.
RSHI is a newly established shipyard located along the Yangtze River. When fully operational in 2009, it will have 5 km of outfitting quays, 4 docks and a crane capacity of 900 tons. The current order books totals 80 new vessels.
Grimur Lund, director of Logimatic says the contract with RSHI emphasises MARS' strong position in the shipyard industry. The company has 65 shipyards worldwide among its customers, including Shanghai Shipyard in China.
Chen Wenjun, vice president of RSHI says: "As a new shipyard, which aims to become the world's largest, we have a strong need for an ERP solution that supports our business processes. We are convinced that MARS is the best solution of its kind on the market today."
Logimatic has developed MARS over the past 18 years. The system manages processes associated with shipbuilding, including optimisation of the course of a project, logistic processes, resource consumption and production planning. According to Logimatic, MARS reduces costs and production time, which ultimately provides higher earnings for shipyards.
