Svendborg Brakes A/S, a Danish company producing hydraulic industrial braking systems and compact hydraulic stations, has received a major order from one of the world's leading wind turbine manufacturers. The order is worth DKK 300m (USD 60m) and includes an option for an additional order of DKK 200m (USD 40m). The same customer also placed a DKK 250m(USD 50m) order with Svendborg brakes in 2006. Further details regarding the order and the name of the company were not disclosed.
Martin Rambusch, managing director of Svendborg Brakes A/S commented to regional daily newspaper Fyens Stiftstidende: "This means that we will get some stability for both our own organisation and our sub-suppliers. Now we can plan purchases and logistics in quite a certain manner."
The new order does not change expectations for 2008, which are already high. The company has gained orders equivalent to 45% of the budgeted turnover for 2008, and the level for this year is 30% higher than last year.
"In China especially, sales of wind turbines are seeing growth, and we expect that the Chinese market will play a significant role in 2008," said Rambusch.
Svendborg Brakes is headquartered near Svendborg on Funen. The company has divisions in Germany, Spain, China, the US, Chile and South Africa.
