Copenhagen hotel chain offers guests electric car hire

Copenhagen's Brøchner Hotels has leased three Norwegian made electric cars that guests can hire by the hour or the day
Electric cars may be some way down the road yet as a mass transport solution, but we consumers can already get a foretaste of what it will be like to zip around town in conscience-soothing CO2-free cars – because hotels with an eye for climate-friendly marketing are latching onto the idea of leasing them while e-transport is in the early stages of market development.

Take Off Daily reports that one such opportunity to test out the personal transport of the future is afforded by Copenhagen's Brøchner Hotels, which has leased three Norwegian made electric cars that guests can hire by the hour or the day. The electric car marque, amicably named Buddy, has a range per charge of 60 km and a respectable top speed (bearing city speed limits in mind) of 75 kph (47 mph).

Brøchner Hotels has already installed three charging stations at its flagship hotel, and plans to expand the number of electric cars in its fleet. From a broader climate-conscious perspective, the hotel chain has been CO2 neutral in its operations since last year by purchasing CO2 quotas to cover its annual energy consumption, and buys its electricity from the climate-friendly electricity utility Modstrøm.
