Danish wind turbine blade manufacturer LM Glasfiber has entered a major supply agreement with Chinese wind turbine manufacturer Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology Co., Ltd (Goldwind), the company writes in a press release. As a result of the agreement, LM Glasfiber will establish its third blade factory in China, the biggest in the country so far.
The agreement is an extension of the strategic collaboration that LM Glasfiber and Goldwind initiated in 2007 and comprises a significant increase of blade supplies of more than 1,100 MW for Goldwind's 1.5 MW wind turbines from 2009-2012.
Wu Gang, managing director of Goldwind says: "Quality and superior technology are the most important parameters to us and our customers, and since we started our collaboration with LM Glasfiber in 2007, LM Glasfiber has shown that they possess both. We have a good and close collaboration with LM Glasfiber and we are delighted that it is now being strengthened with this agreement, which ensures a supply of blades for our solid project portfolio."
LM Glasfiber will establish the new blade factory in Qin Huang Dao in the north east of China. The first phase of the construction is expected to be commissioned in Q4 2009.
MD of LM Glasfiber Roland M. Sundén says: "Thanks to an outstanding collaboration with the authorities in Qin Huang Dao, it has been possible to place the factory ideally to serve our customers' demands and at the same time achieve good logistics conditions for receipt of raw materials and shipping of the completed blades."
