Thrane & Thrane revenue and profit up despite global gloom

The Danish mobile communications equipment and systems manufacturer announces healthy increases in both revenue and profit for the nine months ending 31 January 2009
Amidst all the gloom-and-doom stories that constitute the daily diet of the business world these days, Danish mobile communications equipment and systems manufacturer Thrane & Thrane broadcast a cheerful signal to the market in the form of healthy increases in both revenue and profit for the nine months ending 31 January 2009.
 
On its website, Thrane & Thrane reports under the headline "Increasing sales of terminals driving sustained profit improvement" that revenue for the first nine months of the financial year was up 4% relative to the same period of last year at DKK 907m (USD 153m), while revenue for Q3 of the financial year was up 6% on last year at DKK 302m (USD 51m). Net profit for the first nine months was DKK 67m (USD 11.3m) compared with a loss of DKK 36m (USD 6m) in the same period last year.
 
Listed on the OMX Nordic Stock Exchange in Copenhagen, Thrane & Thrane has a strong position in global mobile communication solutions based on the Inmarsat system, and provides equipment for maritime, land-based and aeronautical use. The company was founded in 1981 and currently employs 650 people.
