Denmark's Vestas Wind Systems, the world's leading manufacturer of wind turbines, has gained an order for 51 of its V80-2.0 MW wind turbine for a project in Oaxaca, Mexico, the company has announced in a press release. The order has been placed by Dragados Proyectos Industriales de Mexico S.A.
The order comprises delivery, installation an commissioning of the wind turbines as well as a 10 year service agreement. The project is scheduled for completion by December 2010.
President of Vestas Mediterranean, Juan Araluce, says in a press release: "Working on this important project has been encouraging for both Vestas and Dragados Proyectos Industriales, as this is Vestas' largest wind farm in Latin America & Caribbean.”
Vestas is headquartered in Randers, Jutland, and employs approx. 21,000 people worldwide. The company has installed more than 39,000 wind turbines in 63 countries on five continents, and has a 20% share of the world market. The company generated revenues in 2008 of EUR 6,035m (USD 7,716m) and for 2009 forecasts revenues of EUR 7,200m (USD 9,206m).
