Skykon leases space at Lindoe for offshore foundation production

Skykon Offshore has leased a tenth of Lindoe Industrial Park's total area which it will use for the production of offshore wind turbine foundations
Skykon Offshore, a subsidiary of the Danish wind energy company Skykon A/S, has signed a lease with Lindoe Industrial Park for an area corresponding to 10% of the industrial park's total area which it will use for the production of offshore wind turbine foundations, the company writes in a news release.
The leased area includes parts of the original Lindoe Wharf shipyard facilities and a number of buildings which will be used for production, painting and storage of foundations for offshore wind turbines. Skykon will take over the facilities this autumn.
CEO of Skykon, Jesper Øhlenschlæger, says in the news release: "Lindoe can offer extremely attractive production and skilled staff, and we are planning a start-up with more than 200 new jobs. With the conclusion of this agreement, we will expand our production significantly and thereby firmly establish ourselves in the market as a producer of foundations for offshore wind turbines. The central location of Lindoe in relation to projects both in the North Sea and the Baltic Sea has also been a major factor in our decision.”
The agreement is long-term and will run for a minimum of 10 years. Skykon Offshore will initially carry out renovation work before starting on production. The first offshore wind turbine foundations are scheduled to be ready for disembarkation from Lindoe in Q1 2011.
