Denmark 2nd best on innovation in EU


Denmark moves up from 5th to 2nd place on the EU Commission’s innovation scoreboard for 2010.

The latest survey on innovation in EU countries ranks Denmark as the second-most innovative nation, moving up from 5th place in 2009.

Research and development are Danish core competences

Strong Danish competences in research and development are emphasized as the number one cause of the improvement on the EU innovation scoreboard. The survey is based on 24 different indicators, where Denmark especially distinguishes itself by having a large number of PhD students, scientific publications and patents. Thereby Denmark passes Finland, Germany and Great Britain on the innovation scoreboard.

Denmark is the world’s best country for business

In 2010, Denmark was also nominated “the world’s best country for doing business” for the third year running by renowned Forbes Magazine. Denmark is praised for its minimal level of corruption, strong personal freedom, favorable property rights and high-level innovation society.
