Zendesk returns to Denmark

to get access to talent

Zendesk, a leading provider of proven, web-based help desk software, will establish a new development center in Copenhagen to dip into the Danish talent pool.

Access to strong Danish IT talent has led Zendesk, a leading provider of web-based help desk software, to set up a new software development center in Copenhagen. The announcement was made during an event hosted by Mikkel Svane, CEO of Zendesk, in Copenhagen.

Have to fight for the developers

Zendesk, which started its business in a humble loft in Copenhagen in 2007, now has more than 10.000 customers worldwide and more than 3.000 European customers, including SAS Airlines, London School of Economics, Moonfruit and CoreMedia. In the past few years, Zendesk has set up a worldwide headquarters in San Francisco, established a European headquarters in London, and have grown to more than 100 employees.

Zendesk moved from Denmark to Silicon Valley in 2009, but the competition is hard when it comes to finding skilled software developers, says CEO Mikkel Svane in an interview with the Danish web-based IT media Version2.dk:

- In Silicon Valley, Twitter and Zynga are right next to us, and we fight to get the good developers. In Denmark, we have contacts and a basis to recruit from.

Mikkel Svane says that Zendesk expects to hire 10-12 developers before the end of the year.
