Chinese Envision Energy to test innovative

two-bladed offshore wind turbine in Denmark

This Monday, elements for a brand new kind of wind turbine arrived in Esbjerg. The tower parts and components for the first wind turbine prototype having two blades rather than the usual three will now be assembled and tested at Envision Energy’s site in north-western Denmark.

Assisted by Invest in Denmark, the Chinese company Envision Energy selected Denmark as the location for its Global Innovation Center established in 2010. 30 employees are tasked with the development and test of new types of wind turbines in Denmark to assure that Envision Energy’s product pipeline is among the world’s leading.

Regional project manager at Invest in Denmark, Peder Bo Sørensen, says:

-“After only two years in Denmark, Envision Energy’s Global Innovation Centre already shows great results and now presents a cutting-edge offshore wind turbine with only two blades that is ready for assembly and testing”

The components for the two-bladed wind turbine are sourced from several global suppliers, and will be transported to Frederikshavn for assembly. Subsequently the wind turbine will be erected for testing at Envision Energy’s site in Thyborøn on the northwestern coast of Denmark.
