International Energy Competition

has its World Premiere in Denmark

2012.10.22

Nearly 100 investors and entrepreneurs from across Europe gather in Horsens, Denmark on October 23 to make an in-depth analysis of entrepreneurial business ideas and nominate the best. The day serves as one of the European semi-finals in the international venture competition 'European Venture Contest' which for the first time is focusing exclusively on good business ideas within the energy sector.

Green energy

New investment opportunities, new networks, and new business ideas!

These are the visible results that organisers and participants expect from the premiere of 'European Venture Contest Energy' in Horsens on October 23. Experts and investors will get the opportunity to meet entrepreneurs and critically review their business plans. Among other things, the aim is to find new potential investors for the emerging companies.

"One of the strongest sources of economic growth is knowledge, which is translated into business. It requires investors as well as entrepreneurs, who are ready to seek out new markets and offer unconventional products and services. At the same time, a business idea has to have the potential to become the next ground-breaking technology," says Mogens Vig Pedersen, CEO of the Insero Horsens foundation, which is represented on the day.

New and sustainable business ideas

With a lot of prospects to choose from, the organisers have selected the most promising entrepreneurs, as well as investors and experts for the contest focused on energy production, distribution and efficiency. The expert panel responsible for selecting the participating entrepreneurs expects to discover new and innovative business ideas, including some that contribute to the Danish political vision of basing a far greater part of the world’s energy production on renewable energy sources.

Invest in Denmark is enthusiastic about hosting the first ever ’European Venture Contest Energy’ in Denmark, and Minister for Trade and Investment, Mrs. Pia Olsen Dyhr, says:

“Sustainable energy is one of the Danish government’s top priorities, and I hope that this venture contest will bring new green ideas to life that can help us reach our aim of becoming entirely free of fossil fuels by 2050. Not only Denmark, but the entire world needs solutions for a more sustainable lifestyle and this event is a great opportunity to match creative green minds from all over Europe with potential investors.“

The competition takes place in Vitus Bering Innovation Park, a large Danish development park for growth-oriented companies and entrepreneurs, and has been arranged in a collaboration between the European network organisation ’Europe Unlimited’, which is responsible for organising all ’Venture Contest’ competitions in Europe, Insero Horsens, Invest in Denmark and the Municipalities of Horsens and Aarhus.

After the competition in Horsens, the venture caravan will continue to Aarhus, where the ‘European Venture Contest’ focusing on Health Care is hosted on Wednesday.
