Denmark’s Technical University Launches

Green Entrepreneur House

For the first time, specific services have been brought together to support the development of green entrepreneurs. The project is gathering activities and competences across the whole value chain to support the development of new green companies.

The Green Entrepreneur House is an initiative by Scion DTU and the result of a particularly strong partnership within business development, network creation, and the incubation environment, and between entrepreneurs who are working with green solutions. The new Green Entrepreneur House will be located at the Danish Technical University’s Risø Campus in Roskilde.

Turning Strong Cleantech Competencies into Business

The location at Risø, with direct access to world-class test and demonstration facilities, and DTU’s competencies in exactly this area, provide a unique possibility to utilise the existing strengths in Green Denmark, for the benefit of emerging growth companies.

CEO at Scion DTU, Steen Donner, explains:

"Denmark has strong competencies in green technology, but we don’t see this converted into new successful companies to the degree that we had expected. The Green Entrepreneur House will change this by strengthening and developing the entrepreneur’s green business model. We have to create a strong ecosystem, and this project is a step in the right direction."

A Factory for Prototypes
The Green Entrepreneur House will also include a factory for prototypes, the so-called FabLab, which together with technical support, is a response to the challenge that many of the green entrepreneurs are experiencing: the need to cheaply and easily create a prototype to test the idea and product in the market.

Scion DTU is leading the consortium, which also includes Denmark’s Technical University, Væksthus Zealand, Væksthus Copenhagen, Accelerace and Rethink Business.
