“It is a solid deal we have entered, Huawei is one of the world’s absolutely most innovative shareholders within mobile network technologies“, says group managing director at TDC, Carsten Dilling.
The agreement has a value of around 4 billion DKK (approx. 540 million Euro) over a period of 6 years. As part of the deal, Huawei will improve the 3G and 4G coverage in Denmark significantly, providing access even in the most remote areas.
Huawei has been present in Denmark since 2007, where they established a sales office, and have since expanded their activities with more offices and cooperation with several of the leading universities.
Kenneth Frederiksen, Managing Director of Huawei Nordic and Baltic Regions, explains how the deal with TDC will further grow Huawei’s Danish presence:
- “In the coming year, we plan to recruit an additional 70-100 people as part of our local expansion. For example wireless product engineers, radio network planning and optimization engineers and Project management experts.” He adds: “The trust TDC has put in us is yet another example of that we can offer technically leading end-to-end solutions that improves the end user experience and lowers the TCO for operators.”
Danish Ambassador to China, Friis-Arne Petersen, says:
- “I am pleased to see how Huawei have developed their business in Denmark since Invest in Denmark helped them to open a sales office in Copenhagen in 2007. Denmark is a frontrunner within ICT, which opens a range of interesting business opportunities both in regard to sales and R&D for solution providers like Huawei.”
