Copenhagen Most Bike-Friendly City in the World

The Danish capital has taken 1st place in a newly-released index of the most bike-friendly cities in the world, by urban consulting firm "Copenhagenize".

The top 10 cities in the 2015 Copenhagenize Index were; Copenhagen (1), Amsterdam (2), Utrecht, Netherlands (3), Strasbourg, France (4), Eindhoven, Netherlands (5), Malmö, Sweden (6), Nantes, France (7), Bordeaux, France (8), Antwerp, Belgium (9) and Seville, Spain (10).

The index pointed to Copenhagen’s remarkable increase in the percentage of cyclists in just two short years. Copenhagen’s residents went from using a bicycle for 36 per cent of their travels in 2012 to 45 per cent in 2014. The consulting firm, which advises cities worldwide on bicycle-friendly urban design, said that such a steep increase “has never happened anywhere.”
