A unique entrepreneurial environment

Denmark is one of the most creative and innovative countries in Europe. Adding to this is a vibrant startup scene, which has fostered global success companies such as Trustpilot, Podio, JustEat, Vivino and Momondo. According to Investment Manager, Sebastian Lykke Møller at Innovation Centre Denmark, Silicon Valley, the reasons for the unique Danish entrepreneurial environment are many:

”First and foremost, Denmark has streamlined the process of establishing a business with only four procedures needed at minimal costs. This results in a flexible, transparent and safe business environment. Second, the startup community enjoys high level of trust, which makes it easy to connect and share experiences with everybody. Third, due to a well-established educational system there are a lot of talented people as well as a growing scene of internationals. Lastly, you will get access to a buzzing environment with great accelerators, co-working spaces and investors that embodies the coolness of Scandinavia,” says Sebastian Lykke Møller, Investment Manager in Silicon Valley.

Drivers for economic growth

The 2017 Global Entrepreneurship Index measures a country’s entrepreneurial ecosystem by combining individual data such as startup skills, risk acceptance and opportunity recognition with institutional measures, including urbanisation, education and economic freedom.

These measurements help distinguish self-employment and replicative entrepreneurship from the innovative, productive and rapidly growing entrepreneurial ventures that drive real economic growth.
