A great place to live

According to a survey from March 2005 by the international consultancy firm William Mercer, the Danish capital Copenhagen ranks second in Europe, only surpassed by Vienna, Austria when it comes to quality of life.

Denmark is perceived as a very attractive country to live and work in by foreign expatriates. In the greater Copenhagen region, more than 3,400 foreign companies have located activities and about 60,000 expatriates, of which 40,000 are from the EU and Nordic countries and North America, live in the region. The reasons are that Denmark is a well-functioning society, with one of the lowest crime rates in the world, efficient public services and a clean environment. In addition, more than 80% of the population speaks English.

• High satisfaction with recreational options: entertainment, restaurants, access to sports facilities, concerts, theatre
