Eidos acquires successful Danish computer game company

UK's largest video game developer and publisher Eidos has acquired software company IO Interactive for DKK 313 million

UK's largest video game developer and publisher Eidos has acquired the Danish software company IO Interactive for DKK 313 million (USD 50 million). Of this sum DKK 257 million (USD 41 million) is in cash and shares, plus a bonus payment of DKK 56 million (USD 9 million) connected to the company's earnings over the next four years. The deal is expected to be closed 31 March.

 

IO Interactive has achieved international success with its games series Hitman. 2 million copies of the latest offering, Hitman 2 – Silent Assassin, have been sold worldwide. The third game, Hitman: Contracts, will be launched 30 April. IO Interactive employs 134 people and is based in Copenhagen. The company will continue its operations from the Danish capital with the same director, Janos Flösser. The news is reported by IT newspaper Comon, online.
