SkyEurope Airlines to operate from Copenhagen Airport from 2005

(2005.01.03)

The Slovakian budget airline will start operating from Copenhagen Airport to three destinations in Eastern Europe in the new year

SkyEurope Airlines, a Slovakian low-cost carrier, will start operating from Copenhagen Airport to three destinations in Eastern Europe in the new year. On 27 March, the airline opens a route to Warsaw, Poland (six weekly flights), on 21 April to Bratislava, Slovakia (three weekly flights), and on 22 April to Budapest, Hungary (four weekly flights).

SkyEurope Airlines is headquartered in Bratislava where it operates from Bratislava Airport located 50 km from Vienna. The airline currently flies to 18 destinations in 12 countries, and has a fleet of seven Boeing 737-500 and six Embraer 120ER jets. SkyEurope Airlines is financed by an international consortium including funds of the EBRD, ABN AMRO Bank and the EU. The news is reported on Copenhagen Airport's website.

Copenhagen Airport is situated just eight kilometres southeast of Copenhagen city centre. The Airport is owned and operated by Copenhagen Airports A/S, a company listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange. The Øresund bridge between Denmark and Sweden makes a land connection close to the airport with exits from the Danish and Swedish motorway networks directly into the airport areas. Copenhagen Airport's attractive location makes it a north European hub for air cargo traffic to Scandinavia, the Baltic States and the countries to the south of the Baltic Sea.
