Sun-Air profits for 2004 soar to new heights(2005.01.21)Sun-Air of Scandinavia, a Danish airline primarily focusing on destinations attracting business people, had a record year in 2004 with pre-tax profits rising 63% to DKK 31.7 mnSun-Air of Scandinavia, a Danish airline primarily focusing on destinations attracting business people, had a record year in 2004 with pre-tax profits of DKK 31.7 mn (USD 5.7 mn), up 63.4% on 2003. In 2004, Sun-Air carried a total of 125,000 passengers on its routes. In 2005, it expects to reach 150,000 passengers, and in 2006 the target is set for 200,000.
In April, Sun-Air will open new routes to Birmingham and Helsinki from Billund, Jutland. They will be operated by new Dornier 328 aircraft with space for 32 passengers. Niels Sundberg, owner of Sun-Air says the airline is currently investing more than DKK 250 mn (USD 45 mn) in nine new Dornier 328 aircraft.
Sun-Air operates from Billund and Århus airports in Jutland. It has a franchise collaboration with British Airways resulting in all regular flight operations being handled by British Airways and Sun-Air's aircraft bearing the colours of British Airways. The news is reported by regional newspaper JydskeVestkysten.
