Chinese – Danish research collaboration to be signed this week

County Mayor of Funen, Jan Boye, is visiting China this week to sign a research agreement between TCM Denmark and the State Administration for Traditional Chinese Medicine

The County Mayor of Funen, Jan Boye, is visiting China this week to sign a collaboration agreement between TCM Denmark and the State Administration for Traditional Chinese Medicine regarding research and development of Chinese traditional medicine. TCM Denmark is a Funen based consortium comprising a number of partners including the Danish Institute of Agricultural Sciences, the University of Southern Denmark, International Science Parks of Southern Denmark and Funen County Council.

 

TCM Denmark will help to align Chinese traditional medicine with European legislative requirements to enable Chinese producers of traditional medicines to sell their products in Europe. The collaboration between Denmark and China also involves studies to investigate whether Chinese medicinal plants contain active substances which can be further developed into western-world drugs where the effect has been scientifically documented through clinical studies.

 

Jan Boye says the agreement with the Chinese authorities is a big step for the consortium because it gives the seal of approval for TCM Denmark to carry out research and help develop Chinese traditional medicine. The news is reported by business newspaper Erhvervsbladet.
