Vestas gains three major wind turbine orders for China(2006.03.31)Denmark's Vestas Wind Systems, the world's largest wind turbine manufacturer, has landed three major orders for China totalling 280 wind turbines with a capacity of 238 MWDenmark's Vestas Wind Systems, the world's largest wind turbine manufacturer, has landed three major orders for China totalling 280 wind turbines with a capacity of 238 MW. The wind turbines of the V52-850 kW type were ordered by Hong Kong Construction, Gansu Datang Yumen Wind Power and Datang Saihanba Wind Power Generation. All orders include supply and commissioning of the turbines as well as Vestas online remote monitoring system. Delivery will start in spring this year and installation is expected to be completed during H2 2006. Thorbjørn N. Rasmussen, president of Vestas Asia Pacific comments: "These orders confirm Vestas' strong position in the Chinese market as the preferred supplier to the major independent power producers. With these orders, Vestas has sold almost 1,000 wind turbines to the Chinese market which demonstrates the market's confidence in Vestas' technology and organisation." The news was reported by financial daily newspaper Børsen and in a press release from Vestas. Vestas Wind Systems employs 10,600 people and has production facilities in Denmark, Germany, India, Italy, UK, Spain, Sweden, Norway and Australia. In 2005, Vestas Wind Systems generated revenues of DKK 26.7 bn (USD 4.3 bn), and sold wind turbines with a total power of 3,185 MW worldwide.
