Denmark opens innovation centre in Silicon Valley(2006.06.07)Last week HRH Prince Joachim opened Denmark's first international innovation centre in Silicon Valley, CaliforniaLast week HRH Prince Joachim opened Denmark's first international innovation centre in Silicon Valley, California. The centre has been established as a pilot project in a collaboration between the Trade Council of Denmark, a department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Per Stig Møller, says: "With the opening of the first Danish international innovation centre, Danish companies and research institutions gain a direct channel into one of the world's most innovative regions. The innovation centre is part of the government's efforts to ensure world-class Danish innovation and research, and will help to give even better opportunities for spotting trends at an early stage, and to establish collaboration with US technology companies and research environments." Initially the target group is high tech companies in ICT and biotech. The innovation centre offers competence and network building, market tests, trend spotting, access to venture capital, consultancy regarding start-up in the US, as well as renting office facilities. If the centre does well, there are plans to strengthen Denmark's presence in other globally leading areas for innovation, research and capital.
