Japanese robotics firm Cyberdyne to establish presence in Denmark

Japanese robotics company Cyberdyne, which specialises in Hybrid Assisted Limb (HAL) technology, is set to establish a presence in Denmark as a bridgehead into the European market for disability aids, reports financial daily newspaper Børsen.

 

Invest in Denmark has used more than two years on helping Cyberdyne examine Denmark as an investment location. One particular feature that made it attractive for Cyberdyne to choose Denmark was the fact that in Region South Denmark and Odense municipality, a new focus on welfare technology is being developed. Odense is thus one of the likely cities for Cyberdyne to choose as a location for its offices.  

 

Cyberdyne makes HAL robotic suits, which fit onto the body to assist and enhance a person's own limb movements. Built-in motors respond to the nerve signals sent to the muscles detected by sensors on the skin.

 

Cyberdyne has entered an agreement with Odense municipality, which will test the HAL suits in a rehabilitation unit run by the city's Elderly and Handicapped care agency.
